Look - This blog is not partisan... It's not left or right, it's just rational. For instance: Do you really believe we can ever get Congress or the Senate to vote for campaign finance reform? If you do, you have your head in the sand.

They make a lot of noise about it. They'll make deals with their cronies in the houses to declare their support for reform, to get a little more popular with their constituents, but they know that when it comes up for a vote, it will be defeated. Why? Because they will never vote for something that provides them with LESS money!

The only solution is that the law makers and vetters do not get to make laws about their own salaries. A different branch of government does. This is not rocket science, but they continue to get away with it, as well as voting themselves raises, etc. because Americans think that if you oppose the practices of government officials, you are being disloyal. This is not true. You can be loyal to your country AND disapprove of what the people who are governing it are doing. In fact you are more loyal to your country if you try to better the system by which it is governed.
